Le 10 septembre 1945, le premier navire part de Marseille, avec des soldats de la 2e DB et 305 sacs postaux.

Avec le retour de l’administration française, en 1945-46, le courrier civil vers la métropole est transporté par les avions militaires, tandis que le courrier militaire est transporté par Air France ! Cette situation durera jusqu’à mi 46.

Pendant la période d’occupation du Tonkin par les chinois, les français arrivent à envoyer des lettres en utilisant la mission militaire française auprès de Tchang Kaï chek, en Chine (censure « Troupe française en Chine/ contrôlé au départ »)
