Returning to In-dianapolis, Mr. Schmidt was local repre-sentative of the Pabst Brewing Company,and afterwards of the Schmidt brewery.It was while in this business that he fur-nished some financial resources to establish-ing the Airdome near the Atlas EngineCompany plant. That was his introduc-tion to the picture show business, and inlater years the promotion of this amuse-ment has occupied most of his time andenergies. Mr. Schmidt is an active repub-lican in politics. Mr. Schmidts first wife, was Carrie Wil-lings. She died in 1895, leaving one son,Raymond Voss. This son possesses thepatriotic ardor of his father and grand-father, and has made strenuous efforts toget his services accepted by the UnitedStates government in the present war. Hehas volunteered four times, and attendedthe officers training camp, but on accountof slightly defective eyesight was barred

Meuser has spent his life inthe meat business, as a stock buyer, packerand retailer, and represents a familythrough whose record the history of porkand general meat packing in Indiana mighteasily be told. The Meusers for threegenerations have been identified with thepacking industry in. this state. RobertJ. Meuser is now conducting a high classmarket at 440 East Washington Street, andis a pioneer in establishing the now fa-miliar cash and carry system of sellingfood products.
