Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A tank car labeled "Sulfuric Acid" displaying a DOT placard with UN Number 1831 and the corrosive chemical pictogram, at a railyard in the Midwestern United States. A magnet covers the word "fuming". Because these tank cars can be used to transport both fuming and non-fuming sulfuric acid, the magnet was likely in place for a previous time when the car was filled with non-fuming sulfuric acid. This photograph was taken during a Health Hazard Evaluation, a NIOSH program by which employees, union officials, or employers can request an evaluation of possible health hazards at their workplace at no cost to them.
