English: In the left panel, cells have been loaded with paramagnetic particles (25 μg/mL medium), cells (2.8 to 16 × 107) delivered to the myocardium of an adult swine using fluoroscopy in a closed chest model, and then imaged using MRI. The black signal (yellow arrows) represents the paramagnetic signal. In the center panel, rat cardiomyoblasts (3 × 106) were loaded with 111Indium Oxine (111InOx, 3.5MbQ/106 cells) ex-vivo, transplanted to the myocardium of rats, and then imaged using SPECT. SPECT has the capability of doing dual isotope imaging (e.g. 111InOx to image cells-red arrows- and 201Tl to image tissue perfusion-yellow arrows-). In the right panel bone marrow cells have been loaded with 18F-Fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG, 100MBq), delivered intracoronary to the myocardium (21.1 × 108 cells), and then imaged using PET.
