Balinese weather has an attitude problem. We’re on a tropical island during the dry season and it’s rained for the past 3 days. The weather forecast for tomorrow is looking promising though…touch wood. I sat for a while and read my book, Diary of a Wimpy Vampire. It’s not the usual high-brow literature I indulge in but it’s about the only thing I can read comfortably in Indonesian. My Indonesian is coming along slowly but surely. A few weeks ago I went to the hair dresser and asked him not to cut my roof (atap) too short. I meant to say the top (atas). The miscommunication was evident when he ran the electric razor through my hair. Having such short hair I realised how bald I was getting. I need to get myself one of those stylish come-overs. I also went to a restaurant and ordered a ‘young iced head’ to drink (es kepala muda), rather than an iced coconut (es kelapa muda). The waitress seemed to enjoy that. I created a new workout routine today, too. Travelling has not been good for my health. Hopefully by the time Rachel and I get married again in September I’ll be like a Greek god.
