Nederlands: Kaart van het latere Noord-Atlantische gebied na afloop van de Caledonische/Acadische orogenese. De fossielen uit het Cambrium en Ordovicium aan beide kanten van de rode lijn verschillen, wat bewijs is voor het bestaan van een oceaan (de Iapetusoceaan) in die tijd, voordat Pangea ontstond.

Reconstructies en locaties van fossielen gebaseerd op:
