| Description | My final shot in the sombre grounds of the Peace Memorial Park in HIroshima, Japan (thank goodness) under the shadow of the Genbaku Dome, the only structure still left standing after the USA's atom bomb attack on the site on Aug. 6, 1645. It was close to lunch time, but having witnessed all that grim information and gut wrenching pictures of the tragedy, I really wasn't in a mood to stomach any refreshment, or nourishment. I heard people still asking at the site if it was safe enough here and whether the site is still radioactive. Well, apparently it is. Recent studies have revealed that the radiation is well within acceptable limits. I took several pictures of this orange stand as I found the dash of colour from the fruit refreshingly reassuring, having gone through several hours of dark tourism amidst drab and gloomy surroundings. Detailed notes about the USA's atom bomb attack over Hiroshima and other details appeared earlier in this album. (see previous pictures) (Hiroshima,Japan, Apr/ May 2019) |
