Symbol was validated in multiple geographies per ISO 15223-2. This symbol was selected based on high validation results and its alignment with a symbol for a similar requirement to indicate presence of 'biological material of human origin'. Variations of this symbol without the letters BIO scored significantly poorer. In contrast, users identified easily this symbol containing the letters BIO with the given meaning. In addition, the presented graphic does not raise any culturally sensitive points.
