Description
Eesti: Vesilestad (Hüdrakariin) on väga liigirikas väikeste ämblikulaadsete rühm, keda on jaotatud üle 50 sugukonda. Maailmas leidub üle 6000, Eestis üle 100 liigi. Eestis elavad vesilestad enamasti madalates seisuvetes. Mujal maailmas leidub neid sageli ka vooluvetes, allikates, põhjavees ja meres. Kõik nad pärinevad maismaal elanud eellastest. Elutsükkel koosneb parasiitsest vastsest, kahest nukutaolisest puhkestaadiumist (proto- ja tritonümf), röövtoidulisest deutonümfist ning röövtoidulisest valmikust. Pärisjalgu on neli paari, keha kerajas või ketasjas. Vastsed parasiteerivad putukatel, kelle valmikutega koos saavad nad kergesti levida teistesse veekogudesse. Antud isend on leitud Rakveres asuvast linnatiigist.
English: Hydrachnidia, also known as "water mites", Hydrachnidiae, Hydracarina or Hydrachnellae, are among the most abundant and diverse groups of benthic arthropods, composed of 6,000 described species from 57 families. This specimen was found in a city pond in the city of Rakvere in Estonia
