This is where I started my trip, Budapest, the capital of Hungary. I had just arrived and was off to see a small monument that was on my list. It was very hot and I walked about 40 minutes to reach it, got blisters on the bottom of my feet from the hot pavement. This is a picture of the Danube with the Liberty Bridge (green) and the Szabadság Szobor or Statue of Liberty upon Gellért Hill in the background just as I started my walk.

Budapest is the capital and the largest city of Hungary. It is the country's principal political, cultural, commercial, industrial, and transportation center. According to 2011 Census, Budapest had 1.74 million inhabitants. The city covers an area of 525 square kilometres (202.7 sq mi) within the city limits. Budapest became a single city occupying both banks of the river Danube with a unification on 17 November 1873 of west-bank Buda and east-bank Pest.
