Howard Platts Of Holbrook Is Dead. Holbrook, Massachusetts; November 21, 1927. Howard Platts, a well-known resident of this town, died suddenly Saturday evening. He was born in North Abington, July 20, 1858, son of Andrew Howard and Julia (French) Platts. He had been a resident for 50 years. At one time he served the town as a Selectman. He had been a director of the Holbrook Cooperative Bank since its organization in 1898, serving as president for the year 1925-1926. He was a charter member of Norfolk Lodge, Knights of Pythias, a Ufa member of Norfolk Lodge, A.F.&A.M., and also a member of the Bay State Commandery of Brockton. Up to the last year and a half he was for 50 years Interested in the shoe trade, both as a manufacturer and In the selling end. He was a member of the Boston Shoe Association. After retiring from the shoe business he conducted a small dry goods store here. He is survived by his wife, Annie (Thayer) Platts; a son, Howard Carlton Platts of Rutherford, New Jersey; four daughters. Miss Catherine Norton Platts, Mrs. John Card, Ruth Alden Platts and Mildred Thayer Platts all of this town; also the following grandchildren: Louise Horton Platts, Howard Horton Platts, and Thayer Horton Platts, children of Howard Carlton Platts; John Henry Card, Platts Card Platts Card, and Elizabeth Norton Platt Cards.
