Summary
[edit]DescriptionHouses of The Close, no. 56c, Wren Hall - geograph.org.uk - 759311.jpg |
English: Houses of The Close: no. 56c, Wren Hall Originally the north wing of Braybrooke House next door, it's named after the architect Sir Christopher Wren, whose architectural style may have influenced its subsequent rebuilding. This took place in 1714, under the direction of Clerk of Works of the Cathedral William Naish. He established the Choristers' School here which consisted of a classroom on the ground floor, and a dormitory for the choristers in the attic. Today it is an educational resource centre for the Cathedral, and Grade I Listed. |
