| Description |
English: Hotel Römerbad opened on 1 June 1888 as a first-class luxury spa and hotel in central Berlin, in a newly constructed neo-Renaissance building. Its builder and director, Bernhard Hoffmann, quickly ran out of money due to construction cost overrun and was forced to sell the establishment. It was re-opened on 22 September 1888 by its new director, Eduard Welcker.
Deutsch: Das Hotel Römerbad eröffnete am 1. Juni 1888 als erstklassiges Luxus-Badehotel in Berlin-Mitte in einem neu errichteten Neorenaissance-Gebäude. Sein Erbauer und Leiter Bernhard Hoffmann war wegen Überschreitung der Baukosten bald zahlungsunfähig und musste das Etablissement verkaufen. Es wurde am 22. September 1888 vom neuen Direktor Eduard Welcker wiedereröffnet. |
