Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The New York Foundling Hospital on 3rd Avenue between 68th and 69th Streets. The elevated railroad is visible as well as laundry hanging on lines behind the Hospital building. The hospital was then an orphanage operated by the Sisters of Charity. The hospital occupied the complex from 1873 to 1958, when it was sold and demolished, and the hospital moved to a new site across Third Avenue. Photo by Byron Company, circa 1894.
