Kaiser Permanente www.ktla.com/entertainment/roseparade/ktla-roseparade2009... FLOAT THEME: Magnificant Tales of Health Kaiser Permanente takes a broad and active view of health and has for over 60 years. We believe that good health is not something that is created solely in a doctors office but is realized every day by the way we choose to live our lives. We believe preventing illness and injury is as important as treating it. We chose this theme of children brilliantly parading down a path of health. As we continue to be the ideal model for health care, we spread the message of Total Health through our younger generation who, on the float, will lead us into a bright and healthy future. Kaiser Permanente is a unique integrated health care provider who takes a leading role in innovation and technology. We continue to stay a cut above the rest by directly serving the needs of our members and our communities. This years float captures the youthful enthusiasm as the float riders lead to a future of a healthy mind, body and spirit, represented by larger than life cornucopia of health. Today, Kaiser Permanente looks to spread health not only to our members, but to everyone in the community. We reach beyond our facility walls to nurture healthy minds, bodies, and spirits, and even the environment. The significance of this years theme ties into the idea that Kaiser Permanente is a leading the industry as a center of excellence that understands and meets their members and communities health needs. FLOAT BUILDER: Fiesta Parade Floats c/o Beverly Stansbury FLOAT DESCRIPTION: Height: 28 Feet Width: 18 Feet Length: 55 Feet In true American fashion, the tradition of the annual County Fair is cause for anticipation and celebration and what a fun time awaits!! Good food, great entertainment, old-fashion family amusement and lots of friendly competition for blue ribbons are to be had for all. The main ingredient for any first-place blue ribbon entry is freshness and you can almost smell the enticing aroma of the healthy garden-fresh homegrown fruits and vegetables cascading from the oversized cornucopia. The magical adventures of childhood spent perched upon fanciful sculptured carousel figurines remain a precious memory throughout our lifetime. Our imaginations galloped free as we rode the colorful carousel animals in the adventure of capturing the brass ring. Kaiser Permanente proudly salutes the antique treasures of the carousel and the artisans who perfected this dazzling American art form. Throughout history the ornately carved menagerie of animals, with elaborate trappings, delicately carved saddles and flashing hooves have been the most popular of Fair rides. These six elegant and richly decorated carousel animals, including a cat, rabbit, swan, turkey, pig and goat, are fashioned after the world famous carousel artists of Dentzel, Looff and Spooner, and sculptured in a style reminiscent of the early 1900's when the most strikingly beautiful carrousel figures were produced. With overflowing baskets cascading with colorful flowers fresh fruits and vegetables, these updated carousel animals continue to entertain, thrill and fascinate family members of all ages. Childhood memories and family fun is found upon richly decorated carousel figures laden with baskets of colorful flowers, fresh fruits and wholesome vegetables. FLOWERING: A masterpiece of intricate floral detail emphasizes the graceful sculpture of the six elegant carousel animals. The elaborate trappings and body coverings have been created from roses, carnations, dendrobium orchids, and chrysanthemums and lilies. The swan and rabbit are neatly groomed in coconut chips, the turkey in red, bronze and orange strawflower petals, the pig in peach lentils, the goat in brown and gold flax seeds and the cat in cream and brown sesame seeds. The cornucopia is weaved in bronze whole strawflowers with produce created in dehydrated carrot and bell pepper granules, red ilex berries, orange and peach lentils and various shades of strawflower petals. The umbrellas are created in yellow strawflower and white sweet rice then trimmed in green Kermit button mums with lavender dendrobium pennants. Beneath the animated carousel animals lush gardens explode in shades of orange, peach and coral roses. |
