Description
English: Toedden-Saint Mary Memorial (Tödden-Marien-Säule) in Brenninkmeyer Street (Brenninkmeyerstraße) in Hopsten, Kreis Steinfurt, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
Deutsch: Die Tödden-Marien-Säule an der Brenninkmeyerstraße in Hopsten, Kreis Steinfurt, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Deutschland. Das Denkmal aus Sandstein ist als dreiseitige Säule ausgeführt. Auf der einen Seite des Gedenksteins ist das Bild der Gottesmutter Maria dargestellt, eine andere Seite zeigt den „strüchelnden“ Kaufmann mit dem Packen (Tödden), und auf der dritten Seite ist die Inschrift „Dem Andenken der Vorfahren aus der Töddenzeit - errichtet von den Nachfahren draußen in der Welt 1956“ eingemeißelt. Entworfen und ausgeführt hat das Denkmal der Hopstener Bildhauer Karl Lammers. Stifter waren Professor Wilhelm Vershofen, Felix Brenninkmeyer und der Familienvorstand der Familie Kümpers (Rheine). Die Tödden-Marien-Säule ist am 28. August 1956 feierlich eingeweiht und der Gemeinde Hopsten übereignet worden. Ihren jetzigen Platz an der Brenninkmeyerstraße fand sie in den 1970er Jahren, als sie im Zuge des Straßenausbaus an die Einfahrt zum Hof Holling versetzt wurde.
