Title
English: Honor Guard Girls at work, Seattle, May 31, 1918
Description
English:

During World War I, groups of young women and girls joined the National Honor Guard. The group was founded by Theodora Booth, daughter of the founders of Volunteers of America, and grand daughter of the founder of the Salvation Army. Membership was open to ages 14 to 30. The group's purpose was to promote patriotism and participate in war relief activities to wounded soldiers, their families, and the general public. Here, five Seattle members of the National Girl's Honor Guard sew layettes for babies, make hospital shirts, and knit. They are working at the group's headquarters at 1206 Fourth Avenue. Seattle's group was organized in March 1918.
