ice, wasborn in 1751, and became a member early in life, and soonafter an assistant in the ministry, and was ordained about1785. From that time the Indian Creek branch became anindependent church.1 Eld. John Price was in the Eldership about 44 years, andseems to have had charge of the Church during the entireperiod, which was evidently a period of considerable ex-pansion of the work. But nothing can be said definitelyabout the growth, as there seem to be absolutely no recordsof baptisms for the first one hundred years or more. Meeting-Houses and Burial Grounds. Indian Creek.—It is impossible to say when the firstmeeting-house was built, but it was built on the grounds ofthe present Indian Creek Meeting-House, on which groundsthere have been four houses, the first three being on the samesite at the road. The First House was a small one, likea small school-house, a frame structure, built of unfinishedboards, painted red and the building was not heated or 1 Notes, by Abraham H. Cassel.
