It requires the greatest nicety tojoin the segments of shawls and other large pieces. Sincemachine-made net has come into use the vrai reseau israrely made, save for royal trousseaux (Figs. 57 and 58). There are two kinds of flowers : those made with theneedle are called point a Iaiguille ; those on the pillow, point plat. ^^ The best flowers are made in Brussels itself,where they have attained a perfection in the relief (pointbrode) unequalled by those made in the surrounding villagesand in Hainault. The last have one great fault. Comingsoiled from the hands of the lace-makers, they have a reddish-yellow cast.
