Success is methodical and consecutive, and however much we may indulgein fantastic theorizing as to its elements and causation in any isolated instance,yet in the light of sober investigation we will find it to be but a result of thedetermined application of ones abilities and powers along the rigidly definedline of labor. Professional advancement in the law is proverbially slow. Thefirst element of success is, perhaps, a persistency of purpose and effort as con-tinuous as the force of gravity. But, as in every other calling, aptitude, char-acter and individuality are the qualities which differentiate the usual from theunusual. A little over ten years ago Isaac M. Hamilton was admitted to thebar, and within that time he has gained a prominence for which many older menhave striven for a lifetime.
