An article on theEvolution of the Telephone. written by Mr. Jones, has become a classic andhas been published and re-published in a dozen different periodicals. Mr. Jones was one of the founders of the present Chicago Electrical Asso-ciation, and was its President in 1896. He is also a member of the FranklinInstitute of Philadelphia and of the Societv of Mechanical Engineers, of XewYork. In 1894 Mr. Jones graduated from the Chicago College of Law. and thefollowing year pursued a post-graduate course, receiving a degree from the LakeForest University. His graduation thesis, entitled Trusts and Trade Monopo-lies, was published in a number of law journals in this country and Canada. In 1896 he com-menced the practice of law, and in 1899 formed a partnership with Keene H.Addington, under the name of Jones & Addmgton, which firm continues at thepresent time. His practice has been mostly along the line of Corporation law,and he is counsel for a number of large companies. Because of Mr. Jones elec-trical training he has been frequently retained in causes involving electricalquestions. In 1898 Mr. Jones was retained by the automobile companies to contest theordinance of the Board of South Park Commissioners excluding automobilesfrom the boulevards and parks, because they frightened horses and thereby in-terfered with the use of the parks and boulevards for pleasure purposes. Aftera bitter fight in the courts, Judge Gibbons, of the Circuit Court, held the ordin-ance void; this was the first decision in which the rights of the automobiles onthe streets and roadways were established.
