It is our duty to prevent disturbance, and we mustof course insist on an observance of the law, saidMayor Rose when informed of the arrest of the fencebreaker yesterday. While nearly all citizens object tothe fence in the Square, we can not allow them to tearit down in violation of law. The Major repliedthat a conference might be held in the Board ofControl room in the City Hall at 11 oclock thismorning. In speaking of the conference to a reporter, MajorGleason said : It will be interesting to see with whatsort of a proposition the Committee will come to theconference. As business men, they should not ask.usto abandon the Square without offering us another sitejust as good.
