Description
Español: El primer texto del himno nacional de Chile data de septiembre de 1819, cuando Bernardo O’Higgins encargó al prestigioso abogado y poeta argentino Bernardo de Vera y Pintado una letra patriótica que deseaba para la naciente nación. El texto de diez estrofas y coro fue aprobado por el Senado, en el acuerdo Nº 2 del día 20 de septiembre de 1819, otorgándole el nombre de "Canción Nacional de Chile". Copias de la marcha fueron enviadas al Instituto Nacional y otras escuelas públicas para que fuera entonada el día 28 del mismo mes, durante las ceremonias de conmemoración de la independencia. El Director Supremo O’Higgins publicó oficialmente la aprobación del himno dos días después.[2]
