| Description |
English: High Street, Croydon, Surrey This is looking north along High Street from the corner of Katharine Street. In those days, (1977), traffic was still allowed through North End, the northern prolongation of High Street. After North End was pedestrianised, there was much less traffic through High Street, being mainly buses. In this picture, the Routemaster bus is on Route 68 which ran Euston to South Croydon. The modern equivalent in 2007 is the 468, truncated to Elephant and Castle, while Routemasters have disappeared not just in Croydon, but all over London. |
