Description
English: French aviator Henri Farman (26 May 1874 – 18 July 1958) after winning the Grand Prix d'Aviation offered by Henri Deutsch de la Meurthe in a Voisin biplane at Issy-les-Moulineaux, Paris, France. The original French caption of the photograph states: "Grand Prix d'Aviation. — Henri FARMAN après avoir bouclé le kilomètre en 1' 28" et gagné le Grand-Prix de 50,000 fr. se dispose à faire un tour d'honneur (13 janvier 1908). ND Phot." ("Grand Aviation Prize. — Henri FARMAN, after completing a kilometre in 1 minute 28 seconds and winning the Grand Prize of 50,000 francs, is prepared to do a lap of honour (13 January 1908).")
