Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The picture shows a reconstruction of the Viking village "Hedeby" or "Haithabu". It is placed at the exact place where the Viking settlement originally was situated. Hedeby was one of the biggest settlements in the Viking Age but was subject to many attacks. In 1050 there was another attack on Hedeby, and after this the inhabitants left the village and took refuge in what later became the city of Schleswig.
