English: This set of 3 images shows how people look at an iconic building in Harvard Square at-first-glance, or in first 3-to-5-seconds before conscious awareness sets in; the 3M VAS software, commonly used in web and ad design, creates heat maps (central image) showing where people are predicted to look most (glowing reddest, fading to black in areas ignored) and visual sequence diagrams, showing where people are predicted to look first, second, third + fourth. This kind of technology brings our animal nature to the fore, helping us 'see' the subliminal as we take in visual stimuli. More info:
