Title
harness pendant
Description
English: A shield shaped (copper-alloy) harness pendant with traces of gilding surviving on the suspension loop. The pendant consists of a shield shaped plate of copper-alloy, with the suspension loop still attached. Most of the suspension loop has broken off and the remaining attachments are heavily worn and corroded. The pendant is very corroded so much so that it is impossible to say which side is the obverse and which is the reverse. The copper-alloy has corroded right back, exposing an iron-like plate which forms the shield shape. This plate is dark reddish-brown with crusted light lime-green copper corrosion attached to it in patches. The corrosion has eaten away much of the original surface, the thickest part of the pendant measures only 2.7mm (closest to the suspension loop).
