Harness pendant
Description
English: A cast copper alloy shield-shaped harness pendant. The suspension loop is broken. The artefact is otherwise in fair condition with a slightly rough verdigris patina. The shoulders are slightly sloping. The face retains most of its original red enamel, in the form of three chevrons. No gilding survives. I. Szymanski has identified this as the arms of either the Banastres family of Lancashire or the Clares. This artefact dates to the 13th century.
