Title
Harness pendant
Description
English: A cast copper alloy shield-shaped harness pendant. The suspension loop appears to be largely intact. The artefact is otherwise in poor-fair condition with a worn surface and a dark green, slightly uneven patina. The face has a well-preserved, integrally-cast design: the upper portion is decorated with ‘vair’, below which are three chevrons (‘chevronels’). Apparently, a small amount of blue enamel remains on the vair and some red on the chevrons. I. Szymanski has identified this as being the arms of the St. Quintin family. This artefact dates to the 13th or 14th century.
