Title
Harness pendant
Description
English: A cast copper alloy shield-shaped harness pendant. The suspension loop is broken, and the artefact is in poor condition. The surface is corroded, with a dark grey colour. Some of the enamel survives on the face as the background (field). There is a horizontal bar across the centre (fess). Above this are two birds (martlets or popinjays), and below the bar is a third. I. Szymanski has tentatively identified this as probably being the arms of John Firtzmarmaduke. This artefact dates to the 13th or 14th century. (Recorded from a photograph).
