Title
Harness pendant
Description
English: A cast copper allow shield-shaped harness pendant, with an intact suspension loop. The shape of the pendant is that of a short kite-shield, with rounded shoulders and a slightly rounded base. The pendant is curved in the horizontal aspect, like a real shield. The face is mostly gilded, although worn and scratched in places. The face bears a crude, apparently abstract design, formed of two lines that run vertically up the centre from the base then curve away form each other at the top, these lines are made up of transverse etched lines. The whole design may be a stylised ram’s head. This artefact dates to the 12th or 13th century.
