Title |
Harness pendant |
||
Description |
English: A cast copper alloy shield-shaped harness pendant. The suspension loop is broken. The surface is corroded, with a verdigris colour and uneven surface. However, the majority of the blue enamel on the face survives. No gilding survives. The blue enamel forms the shape of a ‘lion rampant’, facing left. I. Szymanski has identified as probably being the arms of the Percy family, a great medieval dynasty in the North of England. This artefact dates to the 13th or 14th century. |
