Title |
Harness Pendant |
||
Description |
English: A shield shaped (copper-alloy) harness pendant with bird design and red enamelling. The pendant consists of a shield shaped plate of copper-alloy, with the suspension loop still attached. The shield is decorated with a simple design. The design is itself enclosed within an almost circular depression. The bird motif stands out from the depression as a raised copper-alloy design, the depression has been infilled with red enamel (the enamel has a glassy appearance - because it has started to deteriorate). The bird motif depicts a bird with out stretched wings, facing left, with an eye and three crest feathers on the back of its head. The reverse of the pendant is undecorated. The suspension loop is set at a right angle to the pendant. The pendant is complete, but it is heavily worn. The metal has a mid-brownish green patina. The thickness measurement given below relates to the thickness of the pendant (3.66mm), the thickness of the loop is 5.81mm. |
