Description
English: Typical school children of Bella Coola, B.C., after their mountain climbing on the last day of school, accompanied by Miss Elizabeth A. Smith and Harlan I. Smith. From the west. They are largely of Norwegian descent. It is the custom of this school to climb to a waterfall about one-quarter way up the mountain in the rear of the school each year on the last day of school. From left to right, Dean Brynildsen, John William Everet Greeneway, Edwin Finley, Miss Elizabeth A. Smith, Wilfred Christensen, Nellie Carleton, Margaret Fougner, Mable Pennington, Dora Christensen, Roy Gadsden, Earl Carlson, Orville Carlson, and Harlan I. Smith. the school house is on the left, the playground in the background. Pashla Creek flows to right in natural forest at base of mountain and rear of playground.
