Description
Deutsch: Melchior von Ow studierte in Tübingen und stand 1538 auf Seiten Christophs von Langenberg bei dessen Fehde gegen die Stadt Rottweil. Im Jahr 1553 führte er als badischer Landvogt der Markgrafschaft Hachenberg im Auftrag seines Landesherrn die Reformation in der Markgrafschaft ein. Er selbst blieb der alten Kirche treu und starb kinderlos im Jahr 1569.

Die Vorderseite der galvanoplastischen Nachahmung eines Holzmodells einer Medaille aus dem Jahr 1540 auf Melchior von Ow zeigt ein bärtiges Brustbild von Ows in Harnisch nach links. Im Feld befinden sich Wappen und Orden des burgundischen Kreuzes.
