Title |
Hanress pendant |
||
Description |
English: A copper-alloy medieval circa 14th century heraldic shield-shaped harness pendant. Measuring 37mm in length and 20mm in width. The suspension loop projects from the centre of the upper edge of the pendant and is set at right angles to it. The pendant itself has a decorative, probably heraldic, device on its front face. There is a large standing bird depicted in side profile facing left, possibly a crane. The field around the bird contains a blue enamel and its feet, beak and eye are shown with red enamel. The colour of the birds body remains unclear as no traces of enamel now remain within the recessed body. There is also a traces of gilding on the front face of the suspension loop. |
