Title |
Hanress pendant |
||
Description |
English: A complete copper-alloy heraldic shield-shaped harness pendant, measuring 34mm in total length and 20mm in width. This pendant has as integral suspension loop which projects from the centre of the top edge at right angles, it is oval in shape with a worn oval perforation through it, the top edge of which has worn through. The front face of the pendant has a lion rampant left with a recessed field behind it which would have originally held enamel. The lion has traces of a silvering on it. As the original colour of the field behind the lion can no longer be seen it is not possible to trace the heraldry of this pendant. It however almost certainly circa 14th century in date. |
