Description
English: Memorial to Captain Elisha Lindsay Halsey of Charleston, South Carorlina (sic), who died aboard the ship Thomas Bennett in the Bay of Biscay August 8th 1844. It was alleged that he was a habitual drunkard and had pulled a pistol on the cook, one Kent. Howewer, an inquest ruled justifiable homicide, and Kent was not tried. article
