VII THE IMAGINARY BOY SOON after Doriss adventure with the flute, Marianand Gwendolen made a most solemn vow. Marianpricked her finger with a needle and made a tinydrop of blood come, and then she rubbed it into the palmof Gwendolens hand and promised to be faithful to herfor ever.
