Summary
[edit]DescriptionHARP Grumman S-2 Tracker.JPG |
English: Grumman S-2E Tracker (Bu 151664, c/n 197C), the first purpose-built, single airframe anti-submarine warfare (ASW) aircraft to enter service with the US Navy, in the Historic Aircraft Restoration Project on Floyd Bennett Field (hangar B) in the Gateway National Recreation Area (NY, NJ).
This aircraft was at the Intrepid Air Sea Museum in NY, NY and then went to the Cradle of Aviation Museum on Long Island. However, the museum did not really have room for it and the US Navy, which still owns the Tracker, wanted it at a former Naval Air Station in Long Island. The airplane served on the USS Yorktown and USS Wasp.
