AsTKONOMY is that branch of natural philosophywhich treats of the heavenly bodies: it consists of twoparts, namely, descriptive and physical AstYonomy, Descriptive Astronomy^ comprises an account of tnephenomena of the heavenly bodies. Physical Astronomy consists in the investigation ofthe causes of their motions, ^o,.
