Svenska: Gustav II Adolf. Detta stick är en raritet af stort intresse. Det är nemligen en ytterst sällsynt ungdomsbild af

Gustaf II Adolf, utförd af Christopher van Sichern, den år 1580 födde träsnidaren och kopparstickaren, elev af den beryktade Hendrik Goltzius, hvilken anses såsom en af förgångsmännen för det mera koloristiska användandet af grafstickeln. Sichems här af bildade snitt har en omisskänlig likhet med sådana från 1500-talets midt. Att emellertid denna bild icke är att anse uteslutande såsom en fantasibild får man taga för gifvet. Sannolikt är den utförd ungefär vid tiden för konungens tronbestigning. Dess värde är att söka ej blott i sällsyntheten utan äfven i originaltryckets högst

intressanta utförande; också har den af dessa orsaker här afbildats.
