Summary

[edit]
Description A panorama created from two images of the Gurudongmar Lake in North Sikkim. The ice-melt forms one of the two source streams of the River Teesta. Situated at 5,183 m/17,000 ft, Gurudongmar represents the red face (Dongmar) of the Guru Padmasambhava which scares away all evil. It is said the Guru touched and blessed the lake and that portion of the lake never freezes. Guru Nanak is also said to have visited this place.
