Date: Oct. 2009 This system was designed for the treatment of greywater generated from preparing food and washing dishes at Crater View secondary school (Nakuru). The system also received water from hand washing basins. Specifically, the project aimed at improving the quality of greywater generated for reuse or safe disposal. This was achieved by single pass treatment of greywater through a horizontal sub-surface flow constructed wetland (horizontal SSF CW, or HFB) with Vetiver grass (Chrysopogon zizanioides L) as aquatic plants. |
