Description
English: Greenwich Hospital

A fairly crude but colourful popular print, possibly recording a visit to Greenwich Hospital by HRH the Duke of Clarence (later William IV) since there is a huge crowd of Pensioners along the front, with much flag-waving, and what may be intended as a Royal Yacht to the right off the old Greenwich waterfront.

The view is broadly from the north-west, exposing the west facades of the buildings, but including what looks more like Wren's west front of King Charles rather than Yenn's 1811-15 replacement. It cannot however be regarded as an accurate image - the Observatory also being misrepresented - so this is hardly a significant issue in identifying the occasion.
