Summary[edit]
DescriptionGreat Western RY GP9 296.jpg |
Great Western RY GP9 296. Built in 1954 for the Union Pacific and served as its #296 until 1985 when it was sold to the GW. It last served the GW from 1998 to 2003 as a switch engine at Longmont, Colorado. I spotted the engine as we drove along Valmont in Boulder. Colorado. Going back the next day, we found it was the site of Boulder Railroad Historical Society. We met a friendly man who supplied printed info and interesting comments. I was impressed with the restoration on several pieces of railroad historical equipment and will be posting photos later. |
