Description

The Hairstreak Butterflies have tiny hairs near their tails that resemble antenna. These pseudo-antenna even move to some extent which enhances the deception. Combine these with the eye spots on the wings and predators get confused about which end to hit. Many butterflies survive such hits but have missing pieces of their tails. They seem none the worse for the wear and tear.
