Summary
[edit]DescriptionGrand Hotel Harrogate (25a).jpg |
Tinted postcard, showing the Winter Gardens of The Grand Hotel, erected by the builder and developer David Simpson in 1903, in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. It was designed by Whitehead and Smetham. The Winter Gardens was a large conservatory, attached to one side of the building. The hotel went into receivership in 1954, it was converted into offices, and the name was changed to Windsor House. The building was a convalescent home for officers in World War I. (Source for information: Malcolm Neesam (2018) Harrogate in 50 buildings). The Winter Gardens was restored in 2022 as a cafe for the office workers in the building, and is now called The Pantry.
