The act closes in a riotous orgy, the demons whirling and dancing in a mad revelry. This wild scene is graphically pictured in Kreling's painting, reproduced on page 312. ACT III SCENE— The Prison of MargaretThe demented girl is lying on a straw bed. She rouses herself and sings her sad ballad, L altra notte.
